In reading we are working on drawing inferences from our read aloud and independent texts to help us gain a deeper understanding of our reading. In writing, we are working on our narrative pieces. In math, we are learning about the properties for multiplication and addition, and how they can help us develop mental math strategies to solve problems more efficiently. In social studies, we are researching information from multiple sources, to locate an answer to a question for our states project.
We are focusing on understanding and using figurative language such as similes and metaphors in poetry and songs. We are also writing narrative stories which include the elements or writing. In math we are rounding decimals to different places. At the end of this week, we will begin to look at multiplying multi-digit numbers. In reading we are comparing and contrasting two characters in a text, and drawing on specific details in the text.
