We are back! So glad to be back into the swing of another school year! Room 4 has been working really hard to get acclimated here at Memorial and taking on the responsibilities of a 5th grader. I am so proud of how quickly everyone is getting used to their schedule and doing their best to be prepared for their classes. I have no doubt this is going to be a year of fun, growth, and success!

Room 2 is back in action! In reading, students are determining the theme from their text, fables, short stories, and poems. In social studies, students are researching information about events leading up to the Revolutionary War and learning how to summarize, paraphrase, and quote accurately from multiple sources. This research will help them develop their informative writing piece on the Revolutionary War. In science, students are learning about the ear and sound. In math, students are learning how to multiply and divide larger numbers using different methods.
Welcome to our 5th grade website! We are currently under construction, but please check in soon to see what we are up to!
Last week our class participated in the 4th grade field trip to the State Capitol, Legislative Building, and Old State House in Hartford. We had a full day of activities that supported what we have been learning in class about the three branches of government and our state government. They received a tour of the Legislative Building, met with a town representative and senate member at the State Capitol, and participated in a mock trial at the Old State House just to name a few! We had a fun, educational-filled day and would like to share some pictures for you to view! Enjoy! We had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays and creating our gingerbread houses before winter break. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time to help out and be a part of our fun day. I hope you enjoy the children's creations! |
