Room 4 fourth graders have kicked off their 2016-2017 school year and are doing a great job adjusting here at Memorial School. We have been working on our Core Ethical Values and practicing them everyday. Students are now in a groove with Reader's Workshop and have improved their stamina to read intensely and be fully engaged in their reading. They are applying strategies to grow as readers through envisioning and synthesizing. We are using our place value knowledge to help us shift into various multiplication strategies with larger numbers. Students enjoyed a field trip to Portland Case Quarry to explore the different types of rocks were learned about in our Rock Cycle Unit. Recently we started learning about the different regions of the United States and will continue to do so over the course of the next few weeks. We are working hard but having a lot of fun in the process!
